Joyce A. Boukater age 78, of Portland passed away Wednesday in Reid Hospital in Richmond. She was born in Muncie, Indiana May 20, 1940 the daughter of Joseph William and Olive Louise (New) Daughtery. She was married August 21, 1981 to Herbert Boukater and he died September 28, 2013. She was retired as a toolmaker for EPC in Geneva. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Celina, D.A.R and was an acomplished pianist.
Surviving are two sons Robert Brotherton (wife Rita) of Portland and Mark Brotherton (wife Myra) of Dunkirk, Four daughters Julie Furby of Winchester, Teresa Affolder of Winchester, Shelly Lamb (husband Christian) of Fort Worth, TX and Diana Burkhart (husband Linn) of Monroe, three sisters Penny McClish of Freemont, Mary Whitacre of Indianapolis and Karen Daugherty of Indianapolis, Twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son in law David Furby.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. Private services will follow with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will be in the Green Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Freeman Scout Cabin.
