Glen Eugene Priest, age 86, passed away Monday June 29, 2020 in Parker Healthcare in Parker City, Indiana. Glen was born on August 14, 1933, in New Castle, Indiana to the late Eber Jared “EJ” Priest and Mildred I. Priest. On June 11, 1957, he married his loving partner Beverly (Nicholson) Priest.

After earning his bachelor's in psychology from Earlham College, he obtained his master's in music education from Ball State University and became a dedicated music teacher in the Portland school system along with his wife, Bev, who taught english. His love of music permeated every facet of his life, and he passed on his eclectic tastes in choral, jazz, pop and rock music to many of his students and every member of his family.

But by far his most defining qualities were his patience, kindness, and empathy. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and his deep love for his family – he lived for his wife, daughter, siblings and grandchildren.

Some of his happiest moments were spent with his family, and he would be often the first to suggest the annual trips to King's Island or the lakes in northern Indiana where he could outpace his grandchildren running for the wave pool or the pier of the lake. For nearly 87 years, he had the gift of increadible health, agility, and independence; he shared with his family, and espeicially grandchildren, his love for RC cars and ice cream. Glen made the most of every moment he had with his family and community and gave back tenfold what he received to his church, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly (Nicholson) Priest of Portland, siblings Hugh Priest of Muncie, Dave Priest, Diane Priest Jackson, Virginia Sutherland of Anderson, daughter Linda Priest Rodden (husband Jordan) of Bryant, four grandchildren, Seth Rodden of Cincinnati, Tristan Rodden of Bryant, Lucas Rodden of Muncie and Emma Rodden of Bryant.

Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to Jay County Retired Teacher's Association, Jay County Humane Society or First Presbyterian Church of Portland.
