Bennie G. Hurt age 79 of Geneva, Indiana passed away at his home Thursday morning June 1, 2017 surrounded by those who love him after a brief but debilitating illness.
He was born January 6, 1938 the son of Charles and Jennie (Montgomery) Hurt in Russell Springs, Kentucky. He was married September 1, 1973 to Patricia L. Premer and she died on May 20, 2002. He later married Nancy Bricker on May 21, 2008 and she survives.
He served with the US Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He worked for Jay Petroleum / Pak- A -Sak for over fifty years. He was a member of the American Legion and Noble Congregational Christian Church and attended Bryant Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his wife Nancy, two sons Brian Hurt (wife Janelle) and Ryan Hurt (wife Julie) both of Portland, two step sons Terry Elzey (wife Carla) of Muncie and Randy Elzey (wife Carol) of Geneva, two step daughters Pam Johnson (husband Tim) of Portland and Sherry Studebaker (husband Jay) of Geneva. Two sisters Jerrie Dunbar (husband Dan) and Doralee Lane (husband Jerry) both of Russell Springs, Kentucky. Seven grandchildren and six step-grandchildren and five step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters Ann Hurt and Jean Sterns and one brother Charles Hurt.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Paul VanCise presiding. Burial will follow in the Macedon Cemetery in Macedon, Ohio with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the services, Memorials can be made to Lifecare Family Hospice.
